Get to know Michelle!
I'll never forget the feeling of accomplishment when I ran my first mile! That feeling has been the same with each new distance...running a 5k up to a full marathon. I am 42 years old and I began running in high school, (begrudgingly), as a way of losing weight. I hated every stride as I felt intimidated by the "real" runners, feeling slow and incompetent. I had a friend and mentor who showed me that I could follow my own pace and distance; that this "sport" was truly for me! The enjoyment began and I've been running ever since! In 2009 I ran my first marathon. This was possible because of the coaches of Team In Training. They stressed the enjoyment of running and running as a team. They provided injury prevention education, nutrition/hydration information, and LOTS of emotional support! This has become my own philosophy of running and coaching that I am excited to share with the newcomer as well as the experienced runner!
